After a stunning loss to Ohio in the Mid-American Conference Tournament last week, the BG women's basketball team was announced tonight as one of 48 qualifying teams for the Postseason Women's National Invitation Tournament.
The Falcons received an automatic berth to the WNIT by being the MAC team with the best regular-season record that did not make the NCAA Tournament. They are the only team from the MAC participating in the WNIT.
According to the WNIT's Web site, the Falcons will open the tournament at Anderson Arena on Thursday, March 20 against Dayton. A game time will be announced later today.
If BG beats Dayton, they will face Michigan State in the second round. That game will be held at Michigan State on Saturday, March 22 at 2 p.m.
Check Wednesday's edition of The BG News for further coverage of the Falcons in the WNIT.
