University founds institute to promote faculty research

In 2006, the University established the BGSU Research Institute, and in May it will become a reality. According to John Folkins, chief executive officer of the institute, the institute is a non-profit corporation, separate from the University, that is designed to develop intellectual properties.

Transcendence develops gender activism awards

Amidst last night's storm, a celebration was taking place in the Union recognizing sexuality and gender activism on campus and in the community. Transcendence president, Joelle Ruby Ryan, decided to establish the Sexuality and Gender Activism Appreciation Awards in 2007 after noticing what she considered a "tremendous amount of work and activism.

Designated drivers get free soda

If designated drivers needed more of a reward than saving lives, they have one now. The Wellness Connection and Bacchus/Gamma are offering cards to University students who volunteer as designated drivers that will get them free soft drinks from participating bars.

Nobody quite knew how to handle last night's power outage - so, walking around campus, there ended up being a little bit of everything. Building after building around campus was pitch black with the exception of the occasional emergency light in a stairwell or lobby.

E-mail leads to professor's resignation

After he sent a threatening e-mail, a part-time professor at BGSU's Firelands campus was arrested and later resigned last week. According to Chief Sigsworth of the Erie County Sheriff's Office, Donald Pryor, 36, of Collins, Ohio, was arrested on April 19 for telecommunications harassment, a first degree misdemeanor, after he replied inappropriately to an e-mail from his supervisor.

Abnormal cells had been found and she was referred to a specialist. Her diagnosis: precancerous cells in her cervix, the part of the uterus that connects the womb and vagina.
